IMMEDIATE USE OF THE PEASANT
SUGAR FACTORY, LAZNE TOUSEN

Set within the quiet industrial relics of Lazne Tousen, the project reimagines the forgotten spaces of a rural sugar factory through a lens of temporary activation. Where film studios still hum with occasional activity in the eastern wing, the western side — once home to a powder coating plant — stands on the edge of closure. To the north, neglected boiler houses and a disused granary whisper of past utility, awaiting a new purpose.

Rather than overwrite these layers, the proposal embraces the site’s transitory nature. The studios remain in use, while the vacant warehouse — soon to be vacated by a small paint shop — becomes the seedbed for community revival. In response to the village’s lack of shared infrastructure, a modest café and co-working hub are delicately inserted into the former sugar halls, inviting light, people, and dialogue back into the architectural fabric.

This is not a grand transformation, but a soft awakening — a project that listens to what is already there, and proposes gentle ways to extend its life.
